Help With Coral

I have a green goniopora coral and it has a wierd white slime on it, here are some pics. please help me is this bad or good and if its bad how do i cure it???

looks like a sponge that grew on a dead spot on the skeleton. I dont know if it posses any threat to the coral though.

after thinking about it I would remove it because as it grows it will probably push the coral out and cause it to receed.
if it were my coral I would take a knife that was sterlized and scrape the sponge off most of the time this will kill off the sponge. I would also do this in a bowl of water away fom the tank.
other may also have other suggests on whats worked for them.

scraping it tearing the tissue of the sponge and cutting away as much as possible is what I would do. I would wait though and see if other people have some other suggestions just to make sure there isnt an easier way of doing it.

It is not either. It will compete for space and win. It also has the chance to cause infections. I would remove it.

If you can pull the piece out it will be easier but it should peel off. Go slow and keep your finger or what ever tool you use peeling at the base. They come off relatively easy. Plus the sponge/tunicate doesn't like being out of water.

no the coral wont die just have be careful when you handle it so you dont damage the tissue of the coral.
