Help with green toadstool

A friend of mine gave me this toadstool about two weeks ago. It was fine for the first few days. Polyps were opening up beautifully. I'm not sure if something is messing with it or what but it hasn't extended it's polyps in 3 days. All parameters are good. If you look at the pic you'll see a little discolaration around the edges which is why I think something was bothering it. Sorry about the pictures not being clear. I'm using a point and shoot coolpix s610 and I can't seem to get the settings right.
Think I might do a water change tomorrow and see if that helps. Any suggestions?

Flow is pretty good around it. I had it in the middle of the rock work about half way up. Since it's been doing bad i've moved it to the bottom away from everything.

It looks fine to me. Mine go through cycles like this all the time, but never stay closed for more than about a week. And Meowzer is right, they shed a layer of skin-like material when they do this.

Yes they go through a point where they retract all there polyps in order to shed there detritus ...if it stays closed for a week then you have a problem.. they like a lot of alt. flow ...not directly on them but around them to help them shed this coat. I believe that they need a fair amount of light too because these corals are usually in the shallows

Also leathers are pretty sensitive the first few days in a new tank .. try not to move them to much at first

My leather stayed closed for a couple of weeks. It did shed a coat of slime and has almost doubled in size since. It could be a irritation but if it dies you will know it. If it has a moderate flow on it then see how it does and leave it where it is. The more you move it the more it will just stay closed up. I would think anything would need some time to adjust.
Just 2 cents
