Anyone know what this is? It is about the size of a dime and has not moved since I found it in my tank. It looks like some kind of anenome, but I'm not sure.

I know that aiptasia is sometimes called rock anenomes, but when I looked up rock anenomes, the pic looked like that. Don't know if this helps, just my $.02....

I'm pretty sure it's not aptasia. I've seen enough pictures of it to know what that looks like and this does not look like it.

looks like a Majurno (sp?) or rock anemone to me. A Pest like Aptasia but probably not quite as bad as aptaisia.

Plate coral, for sure.
I think it's called fungia or something like that.
Correction, Disk or mushroom coral. It is the genus fungia. The pic is alittle blurry, but it looks just like what you have.
8 to 10 hours of light and moderate water flow are the requirments. Also space between other corals.

I've never seen a plate, so I have not idea if that is what it is or not. It it attached to my rock and has never moved in the month since I have noticed it. It has gotten a little larger though.

yeah, I didn't mean to sound like I was saying it was aptasia. God knows I know what that looks like, I have about 10 of em in my tank. I threw out the rock anenome idea, cuz the resources I looked up showed something like your pic as an example of a rock anenome. But now that you mention the plate thing, that sounds better. Nice for you tangman!!

Hey thanks Claw! That is the closest thing I have seen to what I have. Strange as my live rock has been in my tank for almost a year and I've never owned a plate coral before. I have no idea where he could have came from.
