I came home to this! looks like it is coming from its mouth. what is going on and what do I need to do? the nem has been in the tank for almost 2 days.it is under a 250watt halide with PC supplement if that info is needed. the water params were:
amm 0, trite 0, trate 20, temp 80.1, salinity 34(1.025)

I will be checking back every few mins for an update on this.

I can tell he is still alive because he is slowly moving towards the rock in the top of the picture

I hate to ask this, but how do I know if it is dead or dying? it is still attached but it still looks like it was attacked. I don't get it. I have a condi in there too and the puffer doesn't even look at it. I feel like crap for putting this creature in there and this happening to it.

From the picture it looks like it is regurgitating some food that was too large, but I guess it could also look like the puffer attacked it. If the former, give it a little time and it should look better. See if you can get a better pic that isnt quite so blurry
Also from the pic it appears to be a BTA, but again a lil too blurry.

I haven't fed it since I have had it as I was giving it a few days to settle in to its new home and I doubt the lfs ever did. as for the pic I will try when I get home as I am using my cell to reply right now. the nem looks to be still attached tot the rock as of this morning

I don't think it made it. I came home and it is on the substrate almost balled up and upside down

I just found what looks to be the legs to one of the hermit crabs that looks like it was partly chewed up. this is near to where the nem was. could the hermit have tried to get too close and the nem possibly try to eat it? i want to get this solved as I want to get another one once the problem is figured out.

are you sure it was deffinently dead, i had one that did this for about four days cos it ate a crab and it just roled arould on the subsrate for that whole time while it was digesting, then after almost five days it started attaching to a rock and then it was fine and grew twice its size

the condi that I had is now dead as well. I am going to test the water again here in a second.

i no longer think that it was my puffer. he never even looked at the condi

its probably the tap water. corals are testy, you should only use water from your lfs, or from the machines in front of heb, walmart...etc...
