Ok...sat i did a wc and then acclimated a pair of clown to my tank, then this morning i woke up to both of my clown having tons of white spots all over them(nothing was on them yesterday night). I think it is ich, but can ich just break out like that over night? all my other fishes are fine...It seems to be just clowns that this happen to when i introduce them to my tank. This is the third set i have introduced now, the first times i thought it was the way i changed my water, and thought it was just sand or debris in the tank getting on them from water changes. This time i just want to make sure...don't want my gf feeling a depress again, she gets sad seeing her fishys die...planing to QT them tonight once i get back from work but please reply....

I am not an expert but I just wanted to tell you what happened with my newest adds.. I just added a hippo and a pj cardinal and the both seemed to have ich but went away... Then I noticed there were bubbles floating around once and they seemed o attach to the hippo pretty quickly then ofcourse went away.... With everything I have read about ich.. it can happen overnight and this early on it should not have effected the rest of your tank. If they do have ich and you have a QT tank set up most people are going to reccomend that you move them in there and do hypo on them.. and that you read the FAQs: Fish Disease, Treatments, Quarantine, Health Info This Thread is under the Fish Desease & Treatment.. By Beth. Good Luck!

Please read Beth's thread about QT and treatment of ich, it is at the top of this page. Ich is a bad thing and will only go away with treatment, will not go away by its self.

some of the white spots are gone...how come this only happens when i water change?

My little Hippo Tang used to break out in ich every time I changed the water...the reason...stress, his whole world was invaded, because when I changed the water I also cleaned the power heads and filters tubes.
I began feeding my tang a chunk of shrimp soaked in fresh garlic, and upped my temp to 82/84. This built up his immune system and he was able to fight off the ich parasite.
The ich disappeared, even when I moved across town it didn't break out with ich. So I think your problem is weak sick fish....improve the immune system and the problem will go away.
I have a reef tank, so copper or hypo was not an option for me.

When you soak, do you just soak in a garlic liquid(any kind) or a particular brand you purchase?
