I recently started my saltwater tank and am still a noob. I bought a liverock from lfs and it has some sort of green plant growing on it that i didnt notice. My question is to i need to take it off and if so how would i go about doing it. Picture posted below. Thanks. Wait i cant post pictures yet. How do i do that?

Have you cycled the tank you are putting the rock into yet or is this LR the first of your rocks for the tank?
Use the "insert Image" link at the top of the "reply" box to insert an image.

Not bad, just that the tank hasn't cycled yet. Find the sticky thread on new tanks and cycling new tanks and follow the directions. Whatever your coral or algae is that you have will probably die off. So if you know someone who has a tank set up, maybe they could hold it for you if it's something you think you might like to keep.

Yes, you can add tufa rock (although i think they may usually be used as base rock)
Either way, once you get all your rock in you will need to cycle your tank.
Did you get us some pics yet?

So this is as far as i got right now. I know the rocks are probably too small but liverock is so expensive. The two bigger rocks are the liverock from fish store. I know i will need more rocks. The sand is Natures ocean bioactive aragonite sand. Not sure if its live or not but...

I would move the power head to the other side of the tank. With it opposite the return you can set the power head to give you some turbulence as it works against the return

Ya i will do that. The powerhead broke off of the suction cup so i have to order a new one. Awesome thing happened last night. Came home and saw a red snail moving around the rocks. Everyones probably use to it but i thought it was awesome

Did you have a picture of the little thing you wanted us to ID? it was a green plant.
Also, make sure your powerhead or return is giving you some water movement on the surface for air exchange. You want it to be having at least some waves. Preferably lots

Yeah turns out it is a micro algae or something like that. Not sure if im going to take it out or not. Yeah I pointed my return to the top but i still need to put my powerhead to the otherside.
