help with protien skimmers please

I have a 155 bow front that has been running for about 1 1/2 months. I have about 150 pound of LR and 160 pounds LS. I have 2 venturi protien skimmers on a PL400 Americle wet dry. I do not know if my skimmers are doing there job. If I remove the tops, the inside(first inch) is full of all kinds of slime, but I never get anything in the cup. Could it be, I do not have much to skim yet, or is it I might not have them set right. I tried all different postions with the air vents.
Thanks Dennis <img src="graemlins//urrr.gif" border="0" alt="[urrr]" />

what size are the skimmers? i'm thinking you don't have that much to skim yet. maybe try running just 1 and see if anything appears in the cup in a day or so. :)

The sckimmers came with the wet dry. They are about 1 1/2 ft tall and run with Rio 600 pumps. That is a good idea, I will run just 1 for a while. Thanks

I am new to this, so I may be off base....but I bought at SeaClone 100 today and the booklet said that it could take 3 days to 3 months to see anything in the cup...IT ALL DEPENDS ON THE BIOLOAD.

YOur skimmer is not skimming well because there is likely nothing to skim. So long as the skimmer is forcing bubbles up about 1/3 of the way up the collection tube you should be fine.
Your tank is only 6 weeks old, and should have a light bioload seeing as it is so young. Just make sure the bubbles remain "bubbling" in the collection tube and as the proteins collect they will cause this column to rise and eventually start spilling over into the collection cup as your system matures.
