help with return pump size

Hello, I am upgrading from a 55 gallon to a 125 gallon. The new tank has two overflows with 1 inch bulkheads. I purchased the overflows at 1 1/4" as recomended. I am trying to determine the right pump. A 125 gallon tank at 10X turnover is 1250, but what are the two 1 inch bulkheads going to handle? Also noticed as i was shopping for pumps that the mag drive pumps (heard good things about them) did not have a filter screen on the inlet as did some other pumps. I do have a refugium chamber on my sump and would think a screen would keep the pods from going up to the main tank. Thanks!!!

1 inch overflows rated at 600 gpm x2. So a pump rated at 1200gpm would be correct??? Again would the mag pump be ok to run with no filter screen?

If it were me I would look for a pump that is going to give me about 700-800gph. There really is no need to push 10x the tank volumer per hour through the sump. Besides, you really don't want to max out your drain lines if you don't have to. For the mag pump I'd look into getting a strainer for the intake side. Not a filter sponge but just the plastic strainer. There are alot of folks however that don't put anything on the intake.

you are going to want pods to get into the main tank from the fuge the filter is just for large stuff plugging the pump up
