help with school project.

My girlfriend has a project for school where she has to design a brochure for something that is endangered. I mentioned reefs and she liked the idea. I was wondering if anyone could give me or lead me to information about the endangerment or destruction of coral reefs. Any info would be great.
Thanks,

Actually it would be best if SHE searched the web, or (shocker) visited a library. Part of her project is figuring out what sort of terms need to be researched, etc. I suspect a lot of us had to do that, long before there was an internet. There is a reason the project was assigned, and it wasn't for us to give out information ;)
You've given her a project, now do her a favor (though she may not appreciate it now) and let her run with it. Start by looking up "coral reefs" :D

she goes to art shcool. And the point of the project is to make a brochure about something that is endangered. It's more the aspect of pictures that it could use not so much researching on why they are deteriorating. I already have info on that part of it. And take a look around I am online, I just wondered if anyone had any suggestions.

most everyone on this board is out of school, and hopefully most werent those kids that refused to share a few answers with others. If anyone could help this guy out give him some reference sites. Im in the library quite often and it sucks.

"Give me or lead me to" information is not the best way to ask this. Saying "I've been to sites like the coral reef network, various marine reserve sites, etc, found a bunch of information, and was just wondering if anyone else had anything they recommend" would make it seem like you have done some work on your own. The question, as stated, did not.
Just because she only needs to design the brochure, doesn't mean she shouldn't know how to find the information to put in it. That is an important life skill. But thus far it seems you have given her the topic, found information for her on the topic, and are trying to find the websites where she can find the pictures. Let the girl stand on her own two feet my friend! :D
BTW, if you are looking for pictures to use, don't bother just going to the coral reef sites, you need to contact/look up professional underwater photographers or sites that display their work. Dive magazine/photographers are also good sources. But anyway, this should be part of her learning experience too. Otherwise, it is a hard lesson called copyright infringement. I am assuming this might be some sort of graphic design class or something, in which case, this topic should be an important part of the lesson (for the photographers, and for her, as an artist).
BTW, Yeah, I was one of those kids who refused to "share answers" aka "to cheat," and went to the library because I had work to do, not because I liked it. If there was an assignment, and I did the work, why should I just give it away?

Leafy SeaDragons are very cool and I think that is a good idea as well. It is a little more specific than just reefs.
My local aquarium had a Leafy SeaDragon display with twelve of them. I was going to shoot pics of them about a week after I saw them and found out they had all died! I hope they never get them in again.

when I grow up.......im going to be a cloner......thats right a cloner...............ill clone that seadragon and than ill give on to everyone.
so take that evil human collectors

The sad thing is that people are probably not going to stop laying thier grubby little hands on the dragons because of what they can sell for. Argh!

ophiura hope no offense taken, i was talking about the kids that would turn their noses up when asked for a little help, not blatently cheating. You are way too helpful on here to be one of them ;) . Hope no offense taken.

Ophiura... while I agree in part with what you say I don't agree on whole. Yes todays youth (and adults) have gotten lazy when it comes to research. But I don't think its bad to ask for info. I don't need to know everything about the world around me. I just need to know enough people who specialize in the world around me. After all this is a free market society... what's his girlfriend got to offer ?$?$?$
My going rate is $60 per page for reports and $50 per side of a brochure.... just kidding.
national geographics are a great source... I used to know the link online but can't seem to dig it up this late at night. Also if you choose to go with the sea dragon there is alot of info on seahorse.org. Also in the seattle aquarium they are housing 4 seadragons on display and are really pushing info at anyone who will listen. check em out at seattleaquarium.org. I also just learned they are selling uva sterilized salt water to reefers for 5 cents per gallon!
Good luck on the brochure... remember this though. IF YOU COPY ONE PERSON IT IS PLEADURISM (spelt wrong) BUT IF YOU COPY ALOT OF PEOPLE IT IS RESEARCH!!!!
Alot of "research" has gone into everything I do.

Oh and by the way... I was one of those kids who SOLD homework with no gaurantees for right answers and made huge profits doing so. Do I feel bad for it? No! I'm a business owner today and buy and sell answers to other peoples problems all day long. It's called networking. What i don't have... my employees do... I pay them for that. What we collectively don't have I buy, rent, lease, or hire. That's business.
I never understood why it was called cheating in school, and economics in life!
I also never understood why someone making less than $30K per year was going to tell me how to be successful in life when my goals were to have employees making more than that.
O-kay WAYYYY OT!

ophiura I never help with her projects, I just really happened to like this topic and wanted to help. If you're going to be snooty and mean, please don't respond to my threads. It's just that easy.

Its funny that you are so up tight with sharing information ophriua considering your bio says differently. You should relax alittle, the day we bash people for asking questions is the day they stop.......hugs and kisses:p
