I did luck into some at the Tulsa Home Depot. Some guy ordered a pallet of it and never came and picked it up. I got 200lbs of it. You may call and talk to them and see if they still have any, but I think that they sold it all.

southdown is aragaonite sand, it is whitish in color and is generally only available on the east coast at home depot, and NOT all playsand is aragonite sand, most is silicate, SOUTHDOWN TROPICAL PLAYSAND is a brand name, like quikrete(or in lamens terms, like chevy)
i do have a friend in california who was able to get hem to get it, but he had ot order a whole palet, what he did was get a bunch of people around to get in on it and the collectively ordered a palet from teh sam e place, in fact he posted here to find other interested people

if you cannot get aragonite economically or southdown play sand(or anothter arag based sand) locally, then get a quartz based sand, like quidkrete, i know of others who have used it without any probs, not quite as good as arag, but still good

With southdown is there anything special you need to do before putting it into the tank like washing it off. Is there any problem putting into an established tank. I'm thinking of getting rid of my crushed coral and putting sand in its place is this safe to do?

Hey RoGeTa, there is another board member here that needs some shouthdown. I offered to call Home depot and go in on a pallet of this stuff. Wrassecal needs some, I have 200 lbs. and need more. I would like to get together and buy a pallet of this stuff. need some more Okies to go in on this. I know that they can get it, I bought it at the Tulsa store. Some guy ordered a pallet an did not pick it up, since then they have sold it. How bout we go in on it together. So far it is me, you and Wrassecal. I know there are more Okies out there, and even some of you people from Arkansas, Missouri, and Kansas can join in.
