Help with stocking my 60 gallon?

Hi, I am new to the hobby and I am super excited to get this tank running! I have a 60 gallon 48x15x17 and was wanting to see what I should stock it with it is going to be a FOWLR. Going threw my cycle right now and going put a couple green chromies in there for start. I am also putting some more LR tomorrow!
I was thinking of doing
- 2 Ocellaris Clowns
- 1 One Spot Fox Face
- 1 Coral Beauty
- 1 Potters AngelFish
- 1 orange dotted diamond goby
Maybe doing a yellow tang instead of a potter? How do yellow tangs hold up in 60?
Is this ok for the size tank? And what else could I add?
heard that a 60 is to small for a Yellow tang and having a Potters angelfish and a Yellow tang isn't a good idea as they both eat algae.
Any suggestions would be helpful.
Thanks

Have u looked at a kole tang? ok that's what I heard about putting angels together. Is the potter a difficult fish to keep I hear some say it is some say it isn't? And about the Yellow Tang that's what I thought was reading about it and the one spot fox face how big does he get? And I haven't, I actually like that fish very pretty that would be ok for my 60?

Hi, welcome to the site.

Kole tangs need a 75g tank, the 60g is too small, and they are a drab color except for their yellow eye, I would pass on it. You can keep just one dwarf angelfish, the lemonpeel is really bright with electric blue around the gills and eyes, and the flame and coral beauty are very nicely colored as well, so choose wisely.

After the angelfish and clowns, try a dottyback or maybe a royal gramma (again choose one or the other) the goby gets huge as well, I don't recommend it for a 60g either, it will quickly deplete the fauna in the sand and starve.

Get this book:

Thanks for the help :) I was looking at the flame and the peel between those 2 kind of going towards lemon peel and I'll look at the dotty back and the royal gramma and on the goby would there be any other choice on a different goby? Also will check this book out looks like it has good info in it. And would firefish be ok in my tank?

Hi,

Firefish are awesome beautiful quiet little fish, they will certainly go in your tank...but they jump, as all long bodied fish do, so you need some kind of mesh or egg crate over the top, you don't want to close it off from air with any kind of lid, but still prevent the fish from committing sushi.

There are all kinds of gobies, the book will help you decide which one to select, because it will explain the adult size and food needs.... The list is too large to explain each one for you, but as you search out fish, come back on the site and ask, I'm sure the fish has been owned by somebody here, and they can give you hands on advice. I personally liked the little neon, Hectors or rainbow goby, but they are very small. Then there is the yellow watchmen goby with such beautiful bright color. However I haven't ever had any of them and am not sure of size...LOL...I loaned my book out, so I can't look it up for you.

JMO...Always get a fish that will be able to grow up to adult size in your tank
, it stresses the fish and tank mates, not to mention destroying your rock work, which could disturb the sand releasing toxins, to try and remove a fish that has out grown the tank. People do it, but I PERSONALLY don't think it's a wise choice. It may be your fish tank, but it's their whole world.

I have a top to my tank so I don't think them jumping will be an issue. I like the yellow watchman goby and the neon goby. Thanks for the help and with the keeping a fish that will be able to grow up in the tank an be able to be full grown in the tank is really helpful I have seen people who put like blue tangs and fish like that in a small tank then get rid of it I don't know how someone can do that lol

Hi,

What do you mean when you say you have a top on the tank? Do you have a bio-cube?

Hi,

You can't keep a glass top on a SW tank, it needs to be open. SW has less oxygen then freshwater, and the air restriction created by having a glass top is too much. You need to remove the lid, and point a power head towards the top to make the surface look like it's about to boil. If you want a jumper fish, get egg crate, or put a mesh top where air can circulate but not let the fish leap out.

You need some more rock, why is the water cloudy? Is the pic just after setting up?
