Help with timer and ballst

I just bought the digital coralife timer...had good luck in the past not so much these days. It turns on/off the actinics perfect. It turns on the MH, but won't turn them off. I'v verified I have it set right and can find no sensible reason why it won't turn it off. I have to manually turn the ballasts off and in the morning I turn them back on, the timer turns them on at the apointed time.

Any ideas why it won't turn the MH's off? I'm about ready to accept getting the hardware store variety...but hate that I just pretty much wasted my money.

I have a blueline electronic ballast for my 175w halide and it was not compatible with my x10 satellites and ended up installing a heavy duty mechanical timer and have had no further problems.
