Help with Xenia Coral

I bought a xenia coral frag about a month ago. It was doing very well but then stem(I guess that's what its called) broke. It's like it got too big for the stem to support. There still is some on the rock, will it live? It doesn't really look like there is a stem. Will this grow or is it dead?

Not only will it live but the little white residue part will grow out as well. If you cut the stalk and gently place it on a rock it will reattach and recover in a few days. The remaining stalk will also grow. At least this is what I have found with "pom pom" Xenia.
