If you are going to dose calcium you need an alk test as well as a calcium test...
If you are going to maintain a marine aquarium...you need to read, read and read some more...you need to research every speciment you plan on getting as for feeding, what it does, what it doesnt do and so on.
Marine aquaria is a delicate hobby...time consuming and often times troublesome...the more you know, the better your experience.

Your best answer depends on what type of marine tank you want to keep. Plants can be kept in the main tank but sometimes work better in a refugium as a nitrate buffer. Undergravel filters are just OK but not the best setup by far as a Deep sand bed is a better choice IMHO.

The best knowledge is by your own mistakes. So try alittle of the blade plants and see what happens. You cann't read much about what will happen cause it is different with every set-up. So give it a try and see what happens.

YES, YOU CAN. (I feel like bb_bs) Shaving brushes would be great. Blade, well:notsure: prolly not so good, only because IF YOU DON'T LIKE THEM, THEY WILL BE A PITA TO GET OUT. But, hey, if you like that look, your tank~your choice.
Happy reefin.
