Hi!
I have a question! I have a 55 gal. (non-drilled) tank. I've purchased the following equipment:
2 MaxiJet 900's = 230 GPh x 2 = 460 GPH
Emperor 400 Power Filter = 400 GPH
Aqua C Remora Pro / Mag 3 Protein Skimmer - 110 GPH
I've been told that to set my tank up as a reef, I should try to have a turnover rate of 1100 - 1400 GPH. If the equipment I've purchase only gets me to 970 GPH, what do I do now? Am I missing something, miscalculating, any suggestions?
BTW - I actually purchased a total of 3 MaxiJets, with the extra planned for mixing water.
Thanks!
Steve

Just remember that things like how many gph you should have is a suggestion/generalization(sp?). Just because someone said 1100-1400 doesnt mean if you dont have that you're going to die :)

I have the exact same set up as you, and its fine in my 75, all my corals are catching a good "breeze, and the top of the water is moving strong, good luck!

I understand that some on this site talk a good talk, but several people seemed to agree that the numbers I mentioned should be what I would need for a reef setup.
You think i'll be fine to acquire most corals, clams, etc? I am a ways from this goal, but I'd certaingly feel better knowing that I'm OK?
Is there anything I'm missing?
Thanks!

You are not that far from your goal, just afew months once your tank cycles, my cycle was very quick, 3 months later i had my first coral. Good luck!!!
