help!!!

ok so my tank is almost cycled am o nitrite 0 and nitrate 5 so i got some hermits to clean up the diatoms and after i was watching the little guys go to town on their cleaning i notised this tiny little thing flying around the tank it looked like a bug like creature with a red head and little white tail. it was about the size of a nat what is this!!!!

What are you talking about? If you don't know what it is you can't assume it's no good. clown, check out the hitchiker thread in the archives and see if you can ID it. And don't panic. For all you know it could be something beneficial.

For me, anything that I do not know what it is and I can't find it anywhere on the internet. I remove'em ASAP! Rather if it's good or not, I rather not take the risk. But that's just me. :happyfish

Sounds a bit how a sand skater would act but the visual description dos not match.
At any rate you will probably never see it again and like was said probably no reason to panic. Many hitchhikers will only live for a limited time in aquarium conditions any way.

alright thanks but im having more problems a few of the crabs left their shells and im not sure what the reason of this was for??? the shells they were in before do not look to small for them to be outgrowing them. does anyone know why they would do this? all my levels checked out ok as well.

I think I saw the same thing. It looked like it was using its tail to break up my rock. My rock does look like its getting smaller in places. At first I thought I was seeing things until I read this thread. I would really like to know what this thing is. It moved very fast. It came out as soon as I turned off the aquarium lights. It even startled my fish a little but the thing is very small.

yeah im not sure what it was i havent seen it since. but all of the crabs are out of their shells. they are on the rocks roaming and eating, i dont know what the deal with them is??? they dont look to be sick when they are on the rocks but then when they walk on the sand thye seem to flip over im thinking this is do to them not haveing their shells. i dont know if i should remove them or not??

The crabs are probably molting. I does look like the whole crab. It sounds like you just need to relax for a while and see what happens.
