Help!!!!

My Brittle star has been in the tank for about 2 weeks and seemed fine. Until today, today it dropped all but two of its arms and part of the remaining arms is there anything I can do? Is this normal?

It sounds like osmotic shock. How did you acclimate him? How old is your tank? What size is it and what are it's parameters..especially SG.? Any swings in salinity or temp.? Are you topping off daily? What are you using to test your SG.?

Well it's to late now it died during the night.
I drip acclimated for One hour. The tank is about 1.5 months old with animals. 10 gallon( it was a very small star only 1/2 inch diamiter body). I performed a water change about a week ago with RO water. I tested the water yesterday morning and everything was perfect. This morning Amonnia-0.00 PH- 8.2 Nitrate 80!!! (which I attribute to the decaying dead body being in there all night) Nirite 0.00 I am performing a water change to remove the Nitate and am also removing the parts of the star. Thank you for the help though.
