You don't have to do changes yet. Your filter will remove the particles in the water column. Keep an eye on your water readings though.

Water clearing up fast...fish ok. I guess i over reacted
but im still new to this. Ill test the water soon, but i have been cycled for about a week and things have been steady. I have a Goby and a Maroon clown and 10 snails on hold at my LFS, which is why i freaked.

But things are ok, LR needs a little readjusting but that can wait. Thanks to all for all your help, without you guys i would never have made it

plus LS looks GREAT compared to CC...I put 2 nylon socks filled with the old CC on each side of my 55 gal just in case but i think im fine.
Does anyone think i can put a Puffer in a 55 and be ok?

You can have a toby puffer, but add him close to last. Let your biological bacteria build up.

Good CALL! Sep man i had never heard of a toby before i googled it! THEY ARE BEAUTIFUL a definate addition at some point...any idea how expensive and where i might purchase one...

I got about 100 lbs thinking i would need more but by bed is pretty deep. I will say this, after some crazy cloudiness i started putting the bags in the tank cutting the end off and just letting it go slowly. I can take a picture if you would like then you can see 100lbs inside a tank and go from there...

yea, please do. im just trying to get an idea, as i will be putting LS in a 125g and its looking like it may break the bank. what kind of sand did you end up going with? and from what im reading, i was thinking of just getting a shallow bed, sounds like the DSBs might be alittle more difficult. what do you think?

I went a little deeper because it sounds like the benefits outway the hassle. I got 50lbs of live fiji on the internet and used basic aquarium sand for the rest because its only 1 dollar a pound. The veterans here can explain more but DSB seems the way to go because it adds additional filtration and apparently helps control Nitrates. Ill take a picture now....forgive the look its still cloudy from the switch

Here is my bed i think its somewhat deep
anyone feel free to give me advice on this LS i know a lot but experience wins i would gladly take some pointers. But anyways here is 100lbs in a 55

wow, if thats 100 lbs in a 55g, how much do i need for a 125g? and i know a deeper sand bed is beneficial, but isnt it alot harder to maintain?
