hi im new to marine fish and i have a couple of questions
i have a 125l tank which has all been set up for marine fish!!!!!!!!!
I have seen a few photos of a type of fish which is called (sweetlips) its like chocolate brown and white does any one know if these are good fish to have?
Is a frog fish hard to keep?
oh one last question i have had my live rock in my tank now for 3 days how long should i wait till i put my first fish in the tank

Adam: Clown sweetlips are nice, peaceful fish who do well in small groups of 3 or 4. Thr frog fish is another matter. It is a predator that will surprise you with the large size of its prey, so you are committed to having only large fish in your tank, and at 125 gal you will find yourself wanting more variety, and they just won't fit. Also, frog fish get fairly large (10 in or so) themselves. At this size, they will eat anything that will fit into a 125. So I would hold off on the frogfish. Now, to your set up. Whether the live rock in your tank has been there long enough, or not, depends on the condition of the rock. The surest way to tell if you are ok to go is to get a test kit for ammonia, nitrite and nitrate. Typically, the die off when lr is added will cause the ammonia levels to rise. These levels will then fall as bacteria convert them to nitrites, raising the nitrite level. Both ammonia and nitrite are very toxic, but other bacteria will convert nitrite into nitrate, which is fairly benign except at high levels. Once this process is completed you will have a bacterial population that will be able to handle the wastes of a fish. You can accelerate this process by putting a raw shrimp form the super marked into the tank until the ammonia levels rise to 0.05 ppm, then remove the shrimp and allow the cycle to progress. So...take your time, measure the parameters of your cycle, and enjoy your tank.
