Sorry for your loss, but your response was way rude.
Here is a solution so it won't happen again.
Buy 2 heaters, one for each side...they don't have to be a big as the original, but if one goes out the other will keep this horrible situation from ever happening again.
The heaters will not come on until the temp calls for it, so two heaters will not overheat the tank. One will however put out enough heat to keep the coral and fish alive.
Mine has a little red light that glows to tell me it is working.

I agree with you, it was VERY bad, but I vote for one more chance. He thought the answer he got was being sarcastic and he had a really bad experiance.

the response by ahren wasnt really even that bad. how was he/she supposed to know his house was 60 degrees? my question is how does he heat up his new water during water change?

My guess is he didn't realize his heater was not working, and didn't catch it until it was too late. Putting in a heater would not have helped at that point, which is why he got angry at the response he got. He didn't make his original post with complete information. He should have mentioned his fish had already died.

tr25, ur tank is only 7 months old with one angel fish in it. look at it as a lesson learned. could hv been a lot worst. heater is never reliable. best to change it once a year imo.

There are also monitors out there (usually for larger tanks) that keep track of temp and other things and beep to alert when something isnt working properly. As said by everyone else, having 2 or even 3 heaters is the best option.

"Aqua-Minder Maintenance Schedule" unit for $18. this unit will alert hobbyist when temp dips below or rises above certain level. google the above phrase, and it should tell u where to buy it.
