hello i just added a hippo tang and he was fine the frist day and when i woke up i looked at tank and he was staying for the bottom of the tank it the same spot . the frist day i had him he l;ooked liked he was ram ing the rock is this normal please help .

He probably has ich. before we can suggest actions need to know water parameters, test results, size of tank, how long has tank been up and running, other tank mates , etc.

sometimes they just need time to adapt . my blue hippo hung out by the powerhead for about 2 days and then got comfortable with the environment .
IMO , check the disease and treatment section on HYPO & QT . Tangs seem to be prone for ICH . I am doing hypo now as I have lost a fish due to ICH . Beth has a sticky in that forum , worth reading ... best of luck

Just because he is swimming around dosen't mean he dosen't have ick. I would watch him closely and if you see him rubbing up against stuff you will need to take him out and treat him.

Agree w/ slick. Hippo's are notorious ich magnets. Watch him closely and I hope you are right and all he needed was some time. Good luck.

I think you should take the tang out of your main tank and put in in a QT at least to watch it for a few weeks. Did you QT this fish before you put it in your main tank?

no i did not .should i? i think i might give him away to some one that has the time to take kare of him

You should QT all your fish before you add them to your tank. I think you should give him to someone else too. You seem like your in a big hurry to fill your tank without doing things to insure your fish will stay healthy.

i am not i a rush but it is just the fish frist i over paid it was like 32.99 and online i could get it for 20 with free shiping .and know he has ick well i think i would not be mad but 40 bucksand he has ick. it is kind of a waste of money dont u think
