Hey i have the 12 eclipse and i would like to know how many snails and hermits to put in.and also i had ick and it killed all my fish how long sholud i wait befor puttin in more fish and should i still keep treatin it for ick.

You stated you have been treating your tank for Ich? Just in case you used chemicals such as Rid-Ich, keep in mind that it (and many others) are copper based chemicals and can/will kill any inverts you place in your tank.

I am not familiar with "rally" but as I said, ALOT of Ich treatment chemicals contain copper. Once added to a tank, it can kill your inverts...even long after you even added it. I know of one person who used a copper-based treatment on her tank and even a year later she could never keep inverts alive. We drained it out, washed all the equipment, rinsed the lace rock and prayed we got it. Started it back up, let it cycle and now she has a huge stock of inverts who are as happy as can be.

I think the waiting period before putting fish back in is 1 month. Just b/c the ick paracites have nothing to host off of and therefore, die.

Wouldn't a carbon filter remove the copper from the tank if it runs for a week or so?
I am not sure, but I have wondered about this myself.

She has both carbon filter media AND carbon pads running and they never reduced the copper levels.

ive heard that malachite green is copper based. check the ingredients in you treatment for it.
