i realllllly want a low wattage HQI or halide fixture like 70 or less but im having an awful time finding something i want. anything that attaches to the back or can fit 16 inches across
my tank is 16x10x8 and i was also wondering if anyone knew the formula to find out how many gallons i have?

lol, you are asking a bit much with the led lights. Why would you need a metal halide for a 5.5 gallon tank? I'm sure you can find something on the two doctors website.
There is a Viper HQI Clamp Lamp that's 70 watts, that you can clamp on the side of your tank. The led's, you can try to rubber band or super glue on some moonlight led's.
You're looking to spend a good 200 dollars.

by the way, you're not going to find a metal halide that small with built in actinics and led's.
You could try to retrofit a regular blue light in a home made canopy if you go that way...
