Depending on what sort of filters you have you should clean them about every two weeks or so, but don't clean them the same day you do a water change, try to mix it up and maybe clean the filters mid-week and water over the weekend.

Ok I did a water change today and it brought the nitrates from 20ppm to 5-10ppm. Also today the power was out for 13 hours due to strong storms and flooding. The anenome shrunk and sucked in its tentacles. After the pumps came back on it has opened up again. Is this a sign it will live? The water temp got into the mid to low 70s.
