Here goes another Ick question...
I have a
120 gal display tank,
29 gal QT tank and
10 gal hospital tank.
My hippo was in my QT and showed signs of ick. He is now in my hospital tank being treated.
The LFS told me that after he is done being medicated, he should go back into the QT and not into the display....but if I understand ick even a little bit...won't it still be in the QT for at least a month? and won't he just get it again and again? I am not trying to rush to get him into my display but it seems odd to put him back into 'infected water' or is it ok to keep him in the hospital tank for several weeks?
Any help understanding this would be great.
Thanks
Brenda

How did you treat the tang? The only reliable treatments are hyposalinity and copper. Both of these treatments take several weeks to do adequately. If you can keep your QT fishless for a month, any ich in that tank will be gone. I would keep the tang in the hospital tank for several weeks before moving it over. Make sure it is cured (3 weeks of close observation) before putting it into your display.
