Which feature should I adjust to get the coloation of the first pic, but the brightness of the second?? The first is wth flash and the second is without. I tried adjusting the shutter speed but 320 is to slow and 400 is to fast and there is no inbetween. :help:

It is a Fuji Finepix S7000. It;s an awesome camera and everything is adjustable...aperature, shutter speed, and a bunch of other stuff I don't understand.

I own the same camera, and they're just fine. What I think you need to do for brightness is make the exposure time longer. Lengthen the shutter speed, letting in more light, as Jer said. As for coloration...I'm not sure. Mess with things like lighting, exposure times, etc. Even use a photo editing program such as Photoshop to help make-up your pictures.

Agreed, but honestly you shouldn't have to use Photoshop to make a picture look good, it should be used for editing only. I would just go through your settings and mess primarily with your shutter. Also if you just bought your camera, from an outside stand point I would seriously suggest exchanging it. At the current moment I run the digital imaging department (Best Buy). From my knowledge, MOST not all, but most Fuji cameras use plastic lens; if it’s a fine pix I can almost assure you though that it’s plastic. Sony’s will give you a better lens, and so will Canons, not sure if you’re a fan or not, but Canons are the top rated point and shoot cameras. As far as SLR’s go, Canon and Nikon are pretty much equal, but Canons typically pull ahead, because they give you : image stabilizers, Enhanced colors, Auto focus. Plus they come standard with harder cases and glass lens. They are more expensive, but they are more expensive for a reason.
But again my mom has a Fiji camera and I can’t pull it away from her, as long as you’re happy with your camera then it’s worth every penny; I’m just giving inside out put being a fellow photographer.
Just I know your camera cant take pictures like this:
This photo was taken at 2am using just moon light. Only thing photoshop was used for was to imput my name, and to change the color of the water in certin spots (it was yellow)
camera used
Canon 10D
Lens:
Wide Angle
also swf.com makes you size down the picture, but if i didn't it would print around 5 feet by 7 feet.

Very nice picture. You are right, cannon's are better. But when you buy one youre also paying for the name, and some people dont wanna put that much money into a camera :p. The lense isnt plastic from what I understand (And observe :p).
Here are a few picture i've taken with my s7000.

Well, I figured it out!! I could not adjust the shuttter, because if I left it open any longer it was way over exposed. Are yall ready?? It was my batteries. They were running low. When I put the new ones in, then used my flash the pics came out about perfect. Yup, I had a big dummy moment, LOL. As soon as I download them, I'll show you...

Some of you may recognize the middle pic, it was a spot where a portion of "Lord of the Rings" was filmed in New Zealand.
All of these pics were taken in NZ.

I suggest you invest in some recharable batterys. Theyre SO nice for digital cameras. They last like 4x longer. Very nice pictures, And thanks Jer :).
