Here my plan for a 12 gallons

There is tiny green grass things growing my live rocks, along with pink sticks things. Look like tree trunk, and bumps but bright pink. And not part of the rocks.
I have only had my tank since June 15. Just have one damsel.
As for a 12 gallon, I was thinking of starting out with a
Percula clown fish
Mandarin fish
Emperor angelfish (Small)
I had my damsel since yesterday. In about 1-2 weeks I am going to take it back, and first get my clown, and a small emperor angelfish. I know that the angelfish would get too big for a 12 gallon. I am going to take it back to trade for another one. Anyway I'll have the clown/angel for a week before getting a mandarin fish.
How does this sound?

i might be wrong but i think that tank is way to small for the mandarian(sp) they eat pods that live on the lr and they told me when i was going to get one in a 55 gal i would have to have alot of lr and my tank would need to mature for about a yr before even thinking about getting one. just what i was told

mandarins need at least 100 lbs of lr. with a mature tank cuc they eat/survive off of pods.
so no mandarin.
the angel. - im sorry but there isnt any way it can be kept in a 12 gallon they need a 125 IMO. even tho it says 100 on the doctors site. i havent ecen looked at the show size tank requirements either.
sorry to be the barrer of ba news but it isnt fair to the fish.
good luck with ur tank in the future!

i have to agree the mandarin and angel are really bad choices for that small of a tank. the green grassy patches is probably hair algae and is a tuff thing to get rd of and the pink sticks may be corraline alage encrusted tubes from snails or worms.

sorry, to post something off topic on your thread, but i dont think anybody else can help......i have been looking for a 12 gallon tank to make a sump out of. The only thing I can find is the eclipse system, and I dont want to buy all that stuff for just the tank. so did you buys yours in the eclipse system, or somewhere else? how much did it cost?

Kinda...I think it more or less breaks down into surface area..Not a set number of lbs..
At any rate.....No angels..No mandarins....

mandarins are one of those type of fish their are different opinions on. I thinks its more of a pod population issue if you have a tank that has a ton of pods with hidding places and a steady production of pods for the mandarin to eat then your alright but unfortunatley you cant do this in a small tank unless its hooked to a large sump/fuge system. I have one in my 58 gallon with about 50-60 pounds of rock the only difference is that mine readily eats mysis and other prepared foods. He still hunts for pods though and I have a fuge but see a dramatic drop in the population of the pods since I added him. I purchase pods for him to hunt just to be sure that he has enough of them
