I think we'll have a depression first. I can see that happening in the near future the way things are already going!

actually the economy is in better shape than it has been in a while, interest rates are going up , a lot of money is freeing up from the baby boomers, inheritance, etc. the gas prices are gas prices, its a direct and indirect result of a lot of things, the capability to refine the crude, an advantage to having a castrophe and making a lil more coin for themselves (govt., oil companies), there wont be a depression, the prices will go down, jobs will open, and everyone will continue spending money, dont be so worried we arent in that bad of shape. regardless of what is going on with Katrina, and the oil rigs, etc. just spend a lil more money on gas, a little less on meaningless things, i.e. candy, chocolate, bags of chips, wendy's drive through, think about it.....we are ok just quit complaining!! lots of people are just fine, how did this country become babies and pout every time they dont have extra money for a candy bar.........
Oh did anyone see the newscasts where the people around new orleans shouting and chanting "we want help!! we want help!!" my goodness, i have nothing to say to that....

Oh, OK.
I thought you where talking about the Mothers with babies, the families, the elderly, the poor, the hungry, the thirsty, the scared, the traped on roof and attics, the homeless, ect. people that have not yet gotten any help from the Feds in over 5 days. Even Bush today admitted that the responce is " unexceptable " uumm.

Maybe if auto manufacturers produced more efficient cars then there would be no complaints and we wouldn't be in the bind we are in now! also they are talking about gas being 6:00 a gal by winter. they are also talking About running out of fuel oil. lets see is that something to whine about? I'm not concerned about candy bars and stuff like that i am concerned about the welfare of people. why don't you face reality. because of this everything is going to go up in price. not all of us make a commission on cars like you. the Governor of pa is already talking about rationing the gas. You tell me is there a potential problem? you need to have a reality check and realize there is a potential problem brewing.

Everytime a disaster hits, some NUT always starts yelling that the sky is falling........
It was a hurricane not fire and brimstone, they have happened before and NEWSFLASH it will happen again, what makes us human beings is that we pick up and move on and not start acting like it is the end of the world everytime a major disaster happens...

Hogwash!!! More fuel efficient cars? I believe manufactures have been making cars that get between 45-60 MPG for years. How much more efficient do you want?
Gas will not hit 6 dollars by winter accross the country. The feds won't allow it. There are measures in place to prevent that so the Govt. can step in.
We will not run out of fuel oil either. We have enough.
What do you listen to? The "Let's cause panic and scare people" news channel?
While we are at it, The also say if you do not believ in Jesus Christ you are goiung to hell. They also say if you do believe in Jesus Christ you are going to hell. They say California will have an earthquake and fall off into the ocean. They also say Hawaii will have a volcano eruption and be totally destroyed. They say LOTS of things that are scary and terrible, use some common sense.

ok this discussion on my end is closed, im simply just fed up and tired of paying for everyone else, i donate, i help when i can, if that isnt good enough, im sorry i earned everything i have and still do, nothing was handed to me, one way or another even the rich and elite earned it some way nothing is handed to anyone, if you are unhappy with your position in life do something about it, i had to just as everyone else should. as far as the gas prices, an extra dollar? or extra 40 -50 bucks a month, well that stinks, but if you can afford that then re evalutate your spending habits and your assets. and lay off of bush, he isnt the problem here, you cant just blame everything on him, everyone knows or should know that any kind of economic problems doesnt happen overnight, it takes years think about how long it took for reagans trickle down theory to work.... unfortunately this country has allowed people to be lazy, encouraged soft hands with everyone, and that everything has to be politically correct, we have turned into babies and its pathetic.
and on the note of "we all dont make commissions like you do on cars" whats that all about? its my job, its what i chose when i saw opportunity, so youre saying im in the wrong because i make decent money that i work my weekends and 65 hours a week for giving up much of a social life that you so indear when you go camping for the weekend and spend time with your family? excuse me but i earn every penny, and as far as making cars fuel efficient, ok you want the HEMI? or do you want the honda insight? you want power and looks or do you want practicality? its choice americans make every day, they wouldnt make the powerful cars if they didnt sell, its your choice america, live with it!

its a tragedy and a travesty, what has happened recently, but when are americans going to wake up and realize where they are, what they have to be thankful for...when did you see people of the tsunami disaster chanting "we want help we want help" and then go and trample over other people to better themselves? or shot their sister in the back for a bag of ice? this is what it has come to. yes it isnt the most comfortable position but be thankful you arent floating down the french quarter dead.............

Yeah...and enough about the frickin cost of gas. I would pay 5 or 6 dollars or whatever to fill up the CAR I still have and heat the HOUSE I still have to go to the JOB I still have and have my FAMILY and FRIENDS I still have over for spam and ramen noodles. Whatever you have to PAY, be glad it wasn't with your life or everything you worked for your entire life, cause that is where the people (rich and poor) in LA, MS and AL are now. I am sure they would LOVE to just be sitting here complaining about the cost of a frickin gallon of gas...and about the $50 coral they just bought. Life ain't too bad...and frankly, what for us is "bad" will never be what it was like a century ago for our grandparents.
I think the people rushing to blame anyone and everyone are really off base. I'm tired of the race card being pulled out. I'm tired of the politics and the "Bush sent the LA guard to Iraq and look where we're at now..." blah blah blah. There will be DECADES to blame and try and fix the problems that resulted in this (eg new refineries in other parts of the country, reconsideration of wetlands protection). Now lets just get these people cared for. THERE BUT FOR THE GRACE OF GOD......
How could anyone have prepared for THIS...apart from knowing it would probably happen to New Orleans eventually, that is. This has been a HUGE wake up call that the feds can't even communicate...they need to evaluate the whole plan because it has failed in its slow response. But it is a NOT a failure of compassion, effort, or racism but of bureaucracy (and democracy), red tape and shear unimaginable magnitude of destruction and desperation. Its hard enough to organize moving people after a baseball game...add desperation and destruction and there you have it. There is a reason we can use that saying about "yelling FIRE in a theatre." This is one BIG theatre, and an unimaginable fire, and the exits are quite literally blocked. I don't know that any democratic country with our reliance on infrastructure could handle it a lot better though they shake their heads. And you combine it with some street gangs who were always there just not without as much power. They are terrorists. They should be killed on the spot. They come out during celebrations for sports victories...they come out here.
The world is watching, and a whole lotta them think we deserved this....can't imagine that "Americans" would loot and kill and ---- people in the aftermath of this (claims nothing like it happened after the tsunami). But this is totally different. We rely so much on infrastructure. Its gone. That sends us into turmoil. It is, I guess, a disadvantage of technology. When its gone...our society is gone. We need to dig a bit deeper into what Americans are....lets take care of our own. Enough doom and destruction. Lets stop blaming and complaining and playing politics and pull this thing together like Americans do and will and can!!!!!!
