I just got some polyps from my fish store, and found a hermit had hitched hiked along. It is about a 1/2" or so and the leg colors are bright black and white bands, is this a good crab? thanks for any help. Rob
Is it's left claw much bigger than the right? If so, it's probably a hawaiian zebra hermit. They're very aggressive and will kill snails for the shell or just to eat.
I've got two and they are huge now. Keep it around, it'll be fine and when it gets too big just pluck him out and give him to a lfs if you have nothing else to do with it.
