I came home from work yesterday and saw 2 hermit crabs having a feast on my bicolor dwarf angel. One was attached to it's mouth and another clamped inside the right gill. It took a minute to get them off but it was already dead. Pissed me off- it was my fav. fish and had him for about 9 months.
Checked the levels-- no ammonia, no nitrites, about 20ppm nitrates, everything else normal. Noticed no parasites on the fish and it has not been exhibiting abnormal behavior, so I think the crabs caught him resting and went to town. Has anyone experienced this before?
