Hey!!! Hi fishmamma!! I've missed you!!!
I was just posting something on this board about my devil's hand leather (pics included). Take a look if you can.
I've started corals, so far I have some branching zoos, pinks zoos, a devil's hand leather, some green 'shrooms, and a small ricordea. It's amazing how alive the tank has become since putting those things in...I'll be getting more this weekend or next, probably. I just love it!!! Color, color, more color!!!
How is your tank going? I hope that everything is straightened out and going beautifully...I'm sure it is with your tenacity.
I'm SO glad to hear from you again!!

I'll be checking this thread to keep up to date with you... Later,
Lisa :happyfish

Hi Lisa! Well the salt water drama continues to unfold....one of my new arrivals (from SWF.com) today did not make it.
BUT I finally have my 16 gallon set up again and transfered the clown that I treated for ick over into it. Todays loss bummed me out, it has been one thing after another. All the other fish kicked the ich without medical treatment which was awesome, but then my female clown developed what appeared to be a tumor that eventually won. Very sad. Then things were good for a while until last week, my little pygmy angel suddenly died. I was devestated. I loved watching her every night before bed. She was not sick, must have been an age thing?? Someone did tell me they have short lifespans, I hope the one I received today lives a long happy life in my tank. :happyfish
I saw a picture of your zoos somewhere....but I think it was from a while back. They are GORGEOUS!! Can't wait to see more pic's. Your tank was looking good in the zoo pictures. What do you have for fish these days? Last I remember you were on a losing streak yourself............
Finger leather-
that and a colt coral are next on my list. I just scored some turqouise (OK I know I just spelled that wrong) and lavebdar shrooms at LFS. So excited about the color. Once they are big and spreading I will frag one and ship it your way.
I am going to go check out hose new photos, so great to catch you here, give me some more updating when you have time!

Yeah, it is a bummer to lose something that you're working so hard to take care of. What did you lose from your SWF.com order? I'm sure...I'm positive, that you'll be reimbursed for that.
I wish you great success with your new angel. I know that I love to watch my coral beauty angel zig zag in and out of the rocks. She and my clowns are the only fish that I have yet. I'm really hesitant to put anything else in as far as fish goes, because those 3 are such aggressive eaters. I would hate to put a fish in that couldn't keep up with them...so, for now we just have our little street gang...I love 'em. I did lose my 2 bangaii cardinals in the span of a week...that sucked!!
I would be so excited to receive some frags from your corals. When I get something worth fragging...same here, to you!! Great!! :cheer:
Well, that's it for now. I'll check when I can...any word from Ant?

I know where Antionette is and where she is kiding, if you want to sy Hi to her you will each ship me a frag in an unmarked box.
Actually she has stopped in on my thread on the aquarium, stop in and say Hi to her, although the frags would still be welcomed.

LOL Scott- frag blackmail I love it!!! Thanks for the tip........
Everything but my new toadstool leather are too small to frag yet, but I waiting for them to grow.

Lisa- I ordered a new shrimp goby to replace the one the LMB killed, a new pygmy angel and the fish that didn't make it was a blue reef chromis. I actually sent an email to SWF reguarding my dissapointment in the fishes condition when it arrived- it had a few scaleless patches on it's body- IMO shouldn't have been shipped to me in the first place. It seemed OK when I started the acclimation process but it had died about 4 hours after arriving. I emailedthem again asking for a credit rather than a replacement since I am now leary of another chromis from thi siste after seeing it's condition. Still no response from either communication.
Would you ever consider a shrimp/goby pair? I just love them both- the new goby and Big Dig (my shrimp) have paired up already.
So fun to watch. How is your daughter doing? Does she still want to start a tank for herself? Been diving anywhere goo lately?

FM,
Sorry about your chromis...I know how that feels...yucky!! I haven't even considered a shrimp/goby pair in my tank because at the moment we are still enjoying Scampi, our coral banded shrimp. It's my understanding that he won't get along with other shrimps...that's the way it goes.
I have however, been considering a royal gramma...what do you think? Will she be able to keep up with my street gang? 'Course, I would have to find one that's been at the LFS for a while, and that might be a challenge. And more to consider yet, will she get along with my angel, who's been in the tank for quite a while now and has herself established??
My daughter is doing great (as always...she's just a really great person). I think that she's beginning to rethink starting up a tank of her own, mostly because of the money. She and her husband are planning on starting family soon, and well, she is rethinking her priorities. Maybe somewhere down the line.
I took a vacation during the first week of August, and my husband and I went to stay at a hotel not far from the little lake that we frequent diving. We are very good friends with the guys at the dive shop there. Well, long story short, we actually laid down a really awesome dive training area that looks just like a patio underwater. We gathered tons and tons of large, flat rocks and pieced them together to form a patio. Everyone's calling it the "training patio", and so far the instructors are just LOVING it!! It really cuts down on new divers kicking up a lot of silt and other stuff. It's about 15' x 15" (so far) and in about 25' of water. I know, that probably doesn't sound like that much fun...but I can't believe how much fun it was!!!
That's it for now. Hope to hear from you soon, I'll be checking.

Kelly, Lisa!!! It's so great to hear from you!! :jumping: I've been a bit MIA lately. So sorry I've missed this thread. Scotts told me about it in the Aquarium forum. My tank is doing great. I did an exchange not too long ago Kelly. I posted the whole experience with pictures. I'm still trying to decide on my next fish. I don't have any new fish from the last we've spoken. The only thing I seem to have lost is the emerald crab. I have not seen shell nor claw of him. Don't have a clue. My tank has been doing great! We've had tons of visitors over June, July and the beginning of August so we're finally getting some down time.
Kelly, I am so sorry about your fish loss, and your recent one, that's just too bad. You get all excited because you're getting new fish and then they arrive like that. I hope it all works out.
Lisa, I love the underwater patio thing! That sounds so cool!
It's really great hearing from you two. Whenever I come on, lately, I felt like I knew no one and I didn't have much to post so I've been hanging out in the Aquarium Forum.
Ant.

Hi Lisa, I will of course hold a colt for you....I am deciding if I should send them attached to a frag rock with band and toothpick or let you guys do it ....and let me just to the cutting...I am gonna ask around and see if it is healthier for it to travel before or after doing this...how about if I just send you one and you pay the ship. these are my first to share. I am gonna send some to fishmamma cause she sent me a big package of food for my tang for nothing!! ...and the tang eats it and eats it!!
Give me until next week for my friend who knows how to frag I am hoping will come this week, then I will check with you guys because I will need you to be home to get the package...and I gotta find out what to ship them in safely. Anyone else reading this....10.00 per frag + shipping will get you some colt coral.....I will post a pic of it later, it is a monster healthy coral.

OhioRN, not a problem at all. If it's all the same to you, I would prefer to receive the frag on a small piece of rock, if that's possible. I'm certainly willing and able to pay the extra shipping weight. I've looked around here for a decent colt, and I just haven't been impressed (and that really doesn't take THAT much!!).
Isn't this a FUN thread??? I feel I'm having a reunion with my sorority sisters!! :cheer: OK, I never had any of those either, but...I don't care, that's what it feels like!!

You all are the best!!

Hi Ant, How great to hear from everyone, hey?
So far, so good with my tank too. I'm still just pretty much cruising along with my 3 little fishes. I know that I have room for more...but sheesh, they're so happy and so am I. I think that when I see something that screams "take me home!!" I may then add another fish. Until then, I'm pretty much working on building my little reef heaven.
The underwater patio really is very cool. We have some pics of it, but they were taken with 35mm and I don't have a scanner. There was a small mouth bass, probably about 18" in length that hung out with me the whole time I was placing rocks (he looks for crawfish under the rocks that I move). He would shoo all of the smaller bass away to claim his territory (and me, I guess). The bass in that lake are so funny, they are constantly following us around like a bunch of little cocker spaniels...hmmmm, fun!!

HI Lisa, you crack me up!! Sorority Sis....teeeheeeee.... I never had any either, by the time I went to college, I was married with a baby!!!
Ok, will try to get one on a frag....freaks me out to think about cutting my colt...but I know they do it all the time! Hopefully he will do this first time for me (my reef friend). I gotta figure out how to ship, think I have to get like a styrofoam little cooler and figure out how to make it actually survive the trip! my mother is having surgery Tuesday so I am hoping that i can work around all that. She lives with us and is actually in the hospital right now with pneumonia but getting better enough to have this surgery. Gonna be a long couple of weeks...hoping to order my new tank this saturday as well...gonna sell my 90! Stepping up to at least a 180.....yahoo!

Oooo, that's really freaky. I'm also going through some health probs with my mom. She had lung surgery (cancer) almost 3 weeks ago, but she just doesn't seem to be getting any better...weak, sleeping all the time, loss of appetite...the thing is, is that she's also taking Darvocet every 3-4 hours...that stuff is cruel!! There's only 2 of us to help out, and we both work. We've started to bring up the "NH" word (nursing home)...that may be helping, but we'll see.
I think that a styro container for shipping should work fine (as small as you can fit frag, rock, bag, and water into). I'll reimburse you for the container as well (I figure I can probably reuse it somewhere down the line).
I wish you best wishes with your mom. I'll check this thread again.

OMG lisa, we do have alot in common. my mom has end stage lung disease....she has had over and over aspiration pneumonias this past few months. I don't think anyone can believe she is still with us. The surgery she is having is to try and correct the flap in her esophogus so that she can't reflux anymore into her lung..always her right lung...She gets deathly sick...you are lucky at least there are 2 of you. My brother is not real involved and does not live around here so it falls on us, which is why she came to live with us about 8 months ago, cause we are IT..and she is not real easy to live with let me tell you....STRESS....it is sad because we don't mean any harm but when she is in the hospital we are less stressed at home...never know when she is here when the next night will be to call the squad....it is scary for my children. She is getting ansy right now in the hospital , has been in since last weekend...did not look right, took her, oxygen sats were low and some temp......always.......so see, I know what you go through...they checked my mom for lung cancer a few months ago..it was neg, but we were honestly surprised.

I can't believe it...this is the second go-around with my mom. 2 years ago, she had a mastectomy and lobectomy done at the same time (opposite lung from this time) and her recovery time took at least 8 weeks. Her surgery this time was really "just" a mass removal (still don't know if it's malignant or not), but still seems to be taking her forever to bounce back. My sister and I have a game plan in place though and hopefully it will work.
My thoughts are definitely with you and your family this week, I absolutely know what you're going through.
Godspeed. We'll talk about frags some other time, when it's more appropriate for both of us.

you probably think I am nuts, but this is my escape, talking and enjoying my tank, it relaxes me....keeps me focused on something enjoyable dealing with everything else, I am sure you find that a little too...hopefully your mother will bounce back , I know how you feel, the longer it takes them each time they fall.....

OK, WOW!! I need to take a few minutes to catch up here but I am so excited to hear from everyone!!! And I would LOVE a colt coral frag, that is so cool of you to offer Ohio! :cheer: :jumping:
One day when we are all fragging experts with beautiful reef tanks we will have to do bi-annual coral swaps or something.

Ant- are you saying you uprgraded your tank? I will try and find the post.
Lisa- Your training patio sounds awesome, I love that you have so many hobbies to enjoy and have fun with.
OK, I have to go back and catch up.......
