Is it possible that its from water that either over flowed or ran down the front of the tank? I get it on the bottom all the time like that.

is it a glass aquarium with a trim at the bottom? If so, could be splash that ran down the front and got caught in the "gutter" --- or a small crack --- or a bad seam...well, glad I could help ;)

Think I found it. My tank is in a corner of the room...so I really don't see the left side on the outside. That's where my overflow is. Also...the floor isn't level and the water level on that side of the tank is higher. Well...looks like the overflow needed cleaning and water was go over the glass on the left side, but under the top plastic frame. Cleaned the overflow and the tank...seems okay...I'll keep an eye on it.

If your tank is leaning to one side, this stresses the seams of the tank on that side. You may want to level it otherwise you may end up with a seam leak. Seam leaks are enjoyable...they look similar to a drinking fountain purging up from the plastic, glass retainer....well, that's what my 45 did a couple of years ago...oh goody. Equally enjoyable would be to find the seam leak...
