Hey Rye

Thought I'd pass alone the first pic that I'm happy with using the camera. This is my cat - Cher. Once I get a little better at it I'll put together some of the tank.

True!! I've got to work on the red eye feature!! lol The pic was taken with the Coolpix 5700 that Rye was using. Good camera, novice user!!!!!!! :D
I've taken up reef keeping and wanted a really good camera for a long time now. So, since ladies shoes are no longer in the budget I can get some toys!! LOL

Sweet Catfish!! Are you getting the hang of that thing? First thing I would buy for it would be the Nikon SB-50dx Flash. No Red-Eye, and better for macro stuff. Good Luck.

I just love Catfish!!! You must be in my head. I was going to ask your recommendation for a flash!!! LOL And that's the flash I was looking at earlier today too. Great minds think alike.
Of course, you know I used the Hi setting for that image - wow is it large, 14 meg. I now understand a statement you made once about how much you lost when you cut it down to a size for the net. This version is the 49k version....LOL

Yeah, I'm not exactly the brightest crayon in the box when it comes to the computer end of things. I am getting better at keeping pics looking good at small file sizes. I hardly ever used the camera in TIFF or RAW mode. I almost always used the highest quality JPEG mode and had good luck. It still shoots at a 5.0 megapixel output in the high JPEG setting. More compression but, I could barely ever tell a difference.

I run a computer business in my home and have some pretty strong equipment so I can handle that end. The link for the pic is right here on my server and my net connection is a T1. Basically, having a T1 in your home is rare!! And fast!!!!! lol
I used the TIFF mode just to see how big the image would get. I can tell a difference but not enough to warrant using the mode. Now, if I were going to use the image in printed material then I would.
