Hey Saxman!

My fuzzy dwarf lionfish agreed with your comment about clownfish being annoying. She tried to eat my platinum clown.
Luckily, I was able to get her to spit the clown out. Somehow the clown was unphased.

Sounds like the fish is eating well, Al...yikes!
Peeps are surprised when stuff like that happens. I know a couple of peeps who have had adult volitans swallow adult female maroon clowns (6.5") without even burping. FWIW, anglers are WAY worse than that...

She is eating well. I may need to consider going to some foods that are a little larger.

Offer food items that are about the size of their eyeball. In the wild, their stomach contents have shown they prefer to fill up with a bunch of smaller items verses fewer larger items. The larger a single food item is, the longer it takes to digest it, and these fish have been found with food rotting in their bellies.
Your best bet is to keep him full so the clown isn't as tantalizing, but a full grown fuzzy can take down a full size perc. A wiggling, live food item will be too much to resist at some point. Are you super attached to the clown? That sounds cold, but I personally take bigger risks with..... ummmmm.... the replaceables O.O

Generally pieces the size of her eye is what we go buy, have you tried shrimp or salmon, slice it so it is slender like a fish or shrimp, not big it will intice her to go after it, or find some platinum colored frozen fish, LOL

Oh Snap! I missed that it was a platinum clown. You probably really like them then. The fuzzy can do it, Krista. We've seen it. You're going to have to keep a good eye on that size differential as time passes.

Well, I'm not super attached to the clown and when the fuzzy gets bigger, I do plan on having a dedicated tank for it. I want to add more variety to the food I am feeding and slightly bigger pieces. Right now, I'm feeding mostly mysis.
