I just got a mandrin from my LFS and it seemed health at the time. I got it home and transfered the fish into my 55 gallon tank. I have only on other fish in there (coral beauty), 4 shrimp, red star, and some blue leg hermits. All of my levels are fine and my live rock has plenty to nibble on. I just checked on him and he is not looking to swell. Breathing once in a great while and his beautiful color is fading fast. Any ideas. I know they are hard to care for but this is throwing me for a loop...?!?! <img src="graemlins//confused.gif" border="0" alt="[confused]" />

QT is quarantine the fish in the cycled tank for 3 to 4 weeks, to check up if the fish got parasite, or disease and stuffs. If the fish got parasite and stuffs, u can just put them in the hospital tank. By doing this way, u don't have to worry about your display tank :) .i have no idea how to do to the mandarine fish because if the tank have no copepod population he will starve and die. VERY VERY VERY few mandarine take frozen food though :) .

Just an idea...
You could try and feed your mandarin blood worms... i know most will say that you canNOT feed them anything but coepods BUT, I personally have had a mandarin in a 20 gal with only 10lbs of LR and i was feeding him Bloodworms (what the other fish were eating) and he seemed to love eating them, maybe you could try that
:D

I have also heard if you have a prefilter for a powerhead in your display tank, that copepods will live in it and you can remove it and put it in your QT tank for them to feed off of during quarantine.
