I went to a new fish store and the owner gave me a few tips. He tested the water for everything and said it was fine except my PH was a little low. Today 2 corals (green gonapor and leather) died and had to remove them from from the tank. The green gonapor had and AWFUL smell. Is that common.?
I run actinics for 12 hours,and halides for 10.
Making sudden changes such as dropping salinity 4 points overnight is not good,it should be done gradually so everything in your tank has a chance to adjust.Constant low ph is not tolerated by coral...did you happen to test your cal. or alk/dkh?
Yes it is common for corals to smell terrible when they die.Xenia is the worst I have encountered so far
Is there any way that anything foreign could have come in contact with your tank?Overspray from chemicals, bug spray, room deodorizer, cleaners???Anyone using nail polish..or anything else on their hands?Has this tank ever been used for FW,or is there any way copper could have been introduced to the tank???
