You need to cycle more than till Sunday..or your taking a big chance on losing what ever you put in the tank...
It usually takes 4-6 weeks min to complete a cycle..
What type of tank do you want??
Passive..Aggressive??...In-between??

Damsels and clownfish are hardier fish; most start with one of these. Damsels can be aggressive.
You should get a vision on what you want in your tank and plan from there. Some don't like to buy fish and then take them back later.
If you need a list of fish look on this site: https://www.saltwaterfish.com/order1.html
It gives you list of inverts/fish, plus a pic and some basic info (how big, what will eat)
Keep in mind your tank size,
When in doubt ask.

ok well my tank is a 55g tank and it was owned by my uncle untill last uesday when he gave it to me because he moved to houston TX and i bought the kits and everything to test and i'm running 60 on my nitrate and .50 on my nitrite and 1.0 on amonia and my PH is perfect and so it the saltinity (wich is at 1.023) and my temp is a good 76*F
Does this help at all?

I would wait to your nitrites are minimal to 0 before attempting a fish. Get some live rock and sand in your tank to speed up your cycle...

Hey Corvett,
Just like I told you in your first post. You will need to wait 4-6 weeks for your cycle to complete. Then after that add one fish at a time and wait about 2 weeks between fish. If you do this you lessen the chance of your tank crashing. HTH

Hi,
Its me again... ;)
With your nitrates that high, your not ready for fish yet...
What would be a good thing to do, is to get a QT tank..and cycle that also..This way when you are ready to get new fish in a few weeks you have a QT tank to put them into...for at least 4 weeks, to make sure they are not bringing ANY illness and disease to your new tank...That would reaaly bite if that happened...It doesnt take much to set one up, it could be only 5/10 gallons, but its enough to keep your main tank out of ALOT of problems later on..
Just my 2 cents..

a qt is a quarenteen tank with salt water it is a very good idea to have one. if you decide to go with inverts at all and have a problem with a fish with most medications will kill the inverts. also good idea to quarenteen before adding to the main tank 1 sick fish can wipe out your whole system. not to scare you or anything but its just a good idea. if your planning on smaller fish a 10 to 20 gall with standard lighting would work fine for this.
if your showing any amm or nitrites at all its not a good idea to add any fish because these are toxic to them. after the cycle a clean up crew should be added. because new tanks will go through alge cycles and this will help control them.
