my calcium and magnesium are on point. but my alkalinity stays at 11-12 dkh. im using sailfert test kits. everything is doing well but i know natural sea water is in the 7-8 dkh range. my question is should i try to get it down and how. or will it be ok thanks

Your current levels are fine. The ocean is huge so a lower Alkalinity doesn't make it less stable. Not the same as a couple hundred gallons of saltwater where stability is hard to come by.

Do you know where the alkalinity comes from? What are you adding to the water or is it just from the salt mix?

i have the 2 part mix from bulk reef supply. i stopped adding alkalinity to try and get it lower and it just through off my calcium and mag. so im adding it again and was wondering if i could benefit more if i were to get it at a lower level

what kind of corals do you mostly have? 7-8 is usually for people running low nutrient systems. generally 8-9 or 9-10 is what most people aim for that dont run low nutrient systems

If you're having any difficulty keeping Calcium in your target range then lowering the Alkalinity to 10dKH will make that easier.
