high ammonia

Are you sure that he died in the tank and never jumped out? It's possible he was depressed and took his own life. But if your ammonia levels went up I guess it could be a clue that he died in his tank.
The ammonia will drop as it converts to nitrites and then nitrates when it finishes decomposing. If you don't have anything else in the tank I guess it's not really a worry though as long as you don't add anything until it drops. I think it might be good to add some cleanup inverts like crans and stuff. They would make short work of a dead clownfish and although there would still be some rise in the ammonia levels it would be limited.

I would get the fish out of there as soon as possible. 1.0 is way to high. Do some water changes to get your ammonia level down. You will not want to put more fish in till this is down to 0! Are you sure your tank is cycled only being two months old? I have had fish die before and didn't raise my ammonia levels very high at all. Good luck!

I would agree with Iecky here,If there is nothing else in the tank and searching for the fish would be a mess,Just leave it be...Things will settle down in a week or so..Then think about adding a new fish...By the way,,,Why did the clown die??????

i went out of town for 5 days and the tank had evaporation. I forgot to tell my wife to keep it topped off with ro water and the salinity was 1.03 when I got home. I added water, but it may of shocked the fish. I had 2 clowns and a damsel and they all died. I am ordering a cleaning crew from this site next week. I was just curious how much ammonia a dead fish creates. Thanks for the help
