OK. Thank you. Now please explain to me why you hate bad math teachers but not bad english teachers.

With math, it either "all works out" or... it doesn't! You often know right away if you're understanding or not understanding it. Learning new styles of math in high school, regardless if they're geometry, trig, calc, statistics, is like learning something absolutely new or foreign. So people are absolutely lost, with no idea, if they don't have a good teacher, friends, or are a good self-teacher. While with english, for the most part everyone can read by high school (atleast we hope!) so its just concepts of english that you might not understand vs. outright being completely lost and knowing that.
So one could easily be more angry with a bad math teacher than a bad english teacher. I had awesome math teachers! Pretty awesome english teachers.... except one
Hey Fishman, are you still not agreeing with the concept of multiplying negative numbers against each other being positive?

I never said that i hated math teachers...my perception of how they teach was skewed by the fact that i did not like math...
If i did not like english it would be the same way.
I hated my geogrpahy teacher but i liked geography so it was ok...
Love,
Im sure that is what happened but my sense of humor sees things from many angles

I had a genius for an English teacher... I probobly had a genius for a math teacher too, but I can't evaluate what I don't know. He might have known it, but I was clueless.
In 9th grade I took algebra, 10th-trig., 11-Alg 2 and in 12th...
I went back down to consumer math just so I could get another math credit to graduate!! I am definately NOT a fan of math. Which sucks, 'cause you cannot find a bachelor's in ANYTHING that doesn't require it's fair share of math.

Crap, as much as I hate to, I'm going to have to agree with Aarone.....even if he doesn't realize what he said was pretty deep. He didn't like the teachers, because they represented what he didn't like ...in general....and certainly understandable. I didn't like math either. I didn't particularly dislike the teacher because I didn't like math, but as time went on, and the teacher didn't make it fun or interesting, I wasn't that wild about the teacher.
Fortunately for me, after 9th grade, I had some great teachers, that made math fun, and I kicked butt in it. And loved the teachers. I hit junior college, got a mean ass teacher, and failed my first class, even though I knew it backwards and forwards. I'm not trying to blame it all on the teacher, and my mind was not into anyway, but the teacher did not make it fun, and was certainly an influence. :happyfish
