first thing you need to do is try some garlic extreme
Actually, not only do studies show that this is only an immune booster. More studies show that this is only an additive with the garlic flavor. The benefits of real garlic last about 30-40 minutes after it is cut up. The rest are preservatives. Fresh garlic is the best choice as far as garlic goes.

It is a FACT that the ONLY two things that totally kill ich are copper and hyposalinity.
Absoutely the truth

Unless your sand is a DSB or there has been a concerted effort to develop sand fauna populations that will die during hyposaline condition, the bacteria on sand will generally be fine during the hyposalinity procedure. This means, live sand will do fine.

Beth, I have seen you post this I don't know how many times, how can you say that LS is going to be fine in hypo? All organisms but the bacteria will die. How can you suggest this? What about the microrganisms in LS? Not just this post, but you have suggested it in others as well. I am very curious as to why it is ok to hypo LS, but not LR. Both carry microrganisms. I can see plain sand that is being seeded by LR, but not when people have a good amount of LS in their tank. Please explain why it is ok to hypo the live.

Mikeyman... You have no idea how lucky you are to have all of these guys giving you advice, I would trust my entire tank to them any day. I just hypoed my display tank (pulled out all live rock and inverts and put in rubber maid) I pulled out some live sand and reseeded it. So whether live sand lives or not, just reseed it, worked for me!

P.S. Tried garlic extreme, a uv and everything else I could instead of hypo, then lost my powder blue due to my stubborness because the ich came back even worse.
Learned my lesson!

It could certainly be re-seeded. My concern was for all of the little critters that live in LS. The bacteria will be fine, but true live sand comes complete with all of the love of the ocean. Just as LR does. Usually more so because LS stays wet, so there is no die off. All of the critters are there when you get it.
