hippo tang, white spots cloudy eye

so i woke up the other day, my hippo kept rubbing itself against the rocks and looked like crap, he had some white on him and his eye looked cloudy..so i assumed ick instantly... i immediatly started doing a garlic dip of all hte food and increased my feeding to once a day, instead of every other day, 4 days later, he look better than new.
my question is, was that ich?? and is feeding every other day that bad?
oh, and i did water test right after that

nitrate=0
ph=8.3
sg=1.024
temp=79

I've had him for like 3 months, never had an ich problem with any of my fish before that.. i guess im just wondering if it was ich, it just kinda healed itself??

i would watch him for a few more days, but if you can move him to quarentine do so. sometimes you will not be able to see it but come back later andthere it is
