Don't buy a tang while you have ick in the tank, that would be pretty stupid. Get rid of all the ick first, then when your sure all the ick is gone think about adding a hippo. Blue hippo tangs are extremely sensitive to ick so definetly wait.

im with the other guys on this one too make sure your system is in check first and then reseach the hippo a little more and find the speciman u like and go for it.

Try soaking your food in garlic as a treatment for a mild case of ich. You can also use Garlic Xtreme made by Kent.
I agree with not adding anything right now until this clears up...assuming it is ich. Stress is one of the causes of an ich outbreak...if the disease is present in your system. Also, Blue Hippos are prone to ich if present in the system.
Keep in mind as long as there is a host fish the disease can remain present in the aquarium. In my opinion, garlic or a gralic produst is an excellent choice in combatting and preventing ich outbreaks.
Provided ich is presnet in your system the following can cause an outbreak and could wipe your tank out:
Poor water quality
Stress
Poor diet
Concentrate on boosing the immune systrem of your fish with garlic and vitamins even after there are no visible signs of the disease. JMO

Sorry, I forgot to include greater than 2 degree constant temperature fluctuations on the list ...assuming the disease is present.
You may also want to raise the temp of your aqaurium to about 80 degrees provided you have lots of water movement...82 is also acceptable. Higher temps help prevent outbreaks. Again, JMO
