Hitchhiker ID

I'll try and get a picture but eh buggers are in an odd spot.
They are white ballshaped things that sit on my rock.
They are round with a little tuftlike thing out of the top.
Any ideas?

I should have looked harder but I didn't expect it to be a sponge so I never looked under that part of the hitchhikers...
