I purchased a Figi Liverock a week ago...
While I was still in the store, I saw a green baloon looking thing in the rock, and it appeard to be an anemone closed up.....
I also thought if it was an anemone, that it may be a baby, because it was small.
I placed the rock where I thought It would look nice but the little green monster moved to the back of the tank....
He did not come out much up front... but now comes out
especially at night.. which I thought
was odd.
Don't they like the light?
I guess my biggest question is:
Is this an anemone?
If so, is it a healthy looking , unagressive anomenoe?
If you need more info, please ask.
Thomas, I printed your article, because I found it wonderfully
informatiive.

My immediate goal for my tank and Anomenoies
is to get one that will a Clown fish will host.
So I am doing research right now...
If this green thing in my tank is an anemonie, will
a Clown be attracted to it?
Will it be an added benefit to my tank.
I will get the proper anomonie to Clown.....match when the time is right.....
Of course, I would love any info regarding the best Anomonies which will host the Clowns.... etc.

Whatever it is appears to be bleached.
Can you get me a pic of the very top, close up?
This thing really doesn't appear to have tenticals, more like a feather duster that has tossed its crown off and is regrowing back but I really can't tell for sure from the pic.

Bleached... About my luck.
Ok, here are more pics.
The little guy is green, kind of a irredicent green....not white at all. The lights make him look white though.
To me, he has the foot of an anemonie.
I have had feather dusters and this looks nothing like the feather dusters I had.....
But, you are correct, he does not seem to have tenicles.
they are really short stubby things..... with tiny bubble looking things at the tips....
I am going to put more pics up... see if you can tell any better what it may be..
If it is bad, I want to break the rock apart and get it out of my tank. (not to disturbe it in case it is poison)

One last comment.. on this critter.
It does have a mouth like an anemonie....
I could not capture it on film though
I appreciate anything you can help me with.

Well I have no idea, I'm stumped as to what type of anemone/creature this is.
Tell you what, feed it and tell me what happens.

Ok, will do..... but I dont have a clue what to feed this thing
It looks like an anemonie, but responds like a feather duster.
ie when I walk up to it it hides back into his "what ever"
But I really do not think it is a fd.
Anyway, thank you.. I will feed him
He does come out when i put invert food in the tank, so maybe he is getting some nutrition....
