HOB Refugium Filtration

I ordered a HOB Refugium and am going use it to replace my mechanical filter.
I also have a protein skimmer. The refugium is 24x4x13. Is this enoguh filtration for my tank?
Also what should I put in the refugium. Miracle mUd or LS? Chaeto or Caulerpa? What kind of inverts.

I think it will work, I ran a 90 with that same aquafuge and a bakpak skimmer. The live sand and chaeto would be my pick

i would put chaeto in it and nothing else. you are going to lose space with the sand, and i doubt it will be enough to help.
miracle mud is crap. i've seen a study on it that claims there is nothing in it from the ocean.
i found pieces of red brick in my container of miracle mud.

How about mineral mud? If not does it matter what kind of LS? Also should I just put a couple small pieces of live rock in there?

Jsut rememeber to keep the flow through it SLOW ...
common misconception. flow does not have to be slow. cheato is going to consume the same amount of nitrogenous waste no matter how fast the water moves. you only want SLOW flow if your going to use it as a setteling chamber to allow detritus to sink so you can siphon it out during waterchanges.

again...a few pieces of live rock rubble at the bottom won't hurt, but i'd leave the substrate/mud alone. it's not going to help.

yes live rocks will help populate copepods. i prefer lr rubbles in the hob fuge. make sure to pick up a light if u r putting macroalgae in there.
