I think my yellow tang has lateral line disease. man this has been one fun week first ich now this. It really doesnt look like he has a hole in his head but it looks like little scraps and rough around his eys and lateral line. What should i use to treat this? i've been soaking dried sea weed in Zoe. Is there anything else i should do?

I sorry to hear that your having problems with you tank,
Tangs need a large amount a filamentous algae that can be eaten all day. one or two time feedings usually do end up in disaster. Feeding seaweed is the best thing and ofcourse keep water quality high. you may consider placing a ten pound piece of cured live rock to "seed" the tank with a larger diversity of algaes.
good luck bringing your tang back to good health!

Actually, microalgae does not hold much nutritional value for tangs, but if you have a tang that will graze on it, then at least you can address the tangs need to "graze" and get rid of the hair algae.
What is your tang's diet? Does it have grazing opportunity in your tank? What size tank, what type, etc?

Well i have 50lbs of live rock, she grazes on it through out the day. I do put dried sea weed in there for her too, but I have some carnivors that like there brine shrimp and krill and i have noticed that the yellow Tang likes to get in on it too.

I had the same thing with my sail fin tang but i healed it up with vit. soaked seaweed and nutrafin max slow sinking morsels. what i did was first got my tang to have a taste for them by putting them in first to eat early in the morning so she started to really like them. then i put them on a glass plate and soaked them with the vits. and let them dry and now i feed them two times a day and my tang is all better and waits for the snack two times a day. it took about five weeks to heal and there is still scares but it is better. the only time it came back a little was when i was treating for ick. but for the most part everything is well. i hope this helps.
