Holpital tank problem

I set up a hospital tank for my fish that have a bad case of ich! The fish are a sailfin tang, yellow goby, neon goby, tomato clown, and a coral beauty. I used the water from the display tank, that water is perfect, the problem is that in the hospital tank the amonia is sky high. I do 50% water changes to it but the amonia keeps going up, I'm afraid that the amonia is going to kill the fish before the ich does. Any ideas on what to do?

What type of tank is your display? Does it have LR, inverts? Hyposalinity can be done in a FO tank. And even if it has LR, it may have been better to move the LR to a rubbermaid, then try to treat ich in an uncycled QT.

I have about 30lbs of live rock some corals, bunch of inverts, a BTA. I'm afraid if I move all of that into a rubbermaid I might lose some of it, what about the BTA? It won't get any light. If I'm right the hyposalinty and everything takes 4 to 6 weeks. Will everything survive that long without any light or filter?

No, you can't move it with corals, for sure.
Add some LS from your display to the QT, removing any snails, worms, etc. Increase water circulation. If you have any rock rubble from your tank, add a little bit of that has well. Keep doing water changes till things stabilize.

I know....the school of hard knocks will take you to grand finale conclusion every single time: QT before the fish goes into the tank.
