So a long story short lol, I ordered from this new company that ships to florida for free so i decided to give them a shot and they are selling inverts at buy one get one free, so i thought for my oceanic biocube 29 gallon reef tank that i would order 4 and get 8 blue leg hermit crabs. Well i must of read it wrong because i received the box of livestock with 200 blue leg hermit crabs.
The bag had brownish water so i figured most of them died in shipping or ate eachother etc or something. So i empty the water into the net and added the shells to the tank to see what made it. And to my surprise they all started moving around.
This is good and bad. 200 blue leg hermit crabs for .49 cents is good, but it is a nano aquarium and i really didnt want to go past 8 hermit crabs for fear of them attacking snails and corals etc... What to do with 200? I dont have any other saltwater aquariums ready to go at this point. For now i have them in the tank and i placed some seaweed on a rock so they can eat if they are hungry.
But any ideas of what to do with the crabs? I believe that it is recommend to have 1 crab for every 2 gallons or something like that but im really at ends because i dont want them to eat everything and then start eatting eachother.
