Octopus Mercatoris, from Florida coast. Only get about 3 inches long. That looks like a juvenile, so you might have a few months worth of life out of it. You can look at Cephbase.org and find more info, or TONMO.com. One member there is raising babies.
They don't ink much at all. Not enough to worry about. Any skimmer would take care of ink anyway, it would NOT be a threat to your tank if you have a skimmer running. Throw in a Fiddler Crab. It's fun to watch a tiny octopus take down a Fiddler the same size, will blow your mind how tough they are.

I liked watching those videos of the octopus opening the plastic container to get it's food out - those things are so smart!
A fella at my LFS was telling me about a certain type of octopus he got in a rock shipment - i guess it was quite poisonous...

Only Blue-Rings are poisonous/deadly. I seriously doubt they got a shipment of live rock from the Australian coast. There are a few other places Blue-Rings are found, but very VERY unlikely they got rock from any of those areas.

I already said, it IS an Octopus Mercatoris. Fact.
You can check Cephbase.org if you want scientific data as well as ID pictures.
